Preparing for July 1 home cultivation.
On March 31, 2021 Virginia Governer Ralph Northan announced that home cultivation of cannabis will be legal on July 1st of the same year. This is great news for residents who would otherwise not have access to legal weed until 2024 when recreational sales begin. Here at The Key we have already begun preparing our grow spaces and you can too! Here are some tips to get started.
Most importantly make sure you have a location that cannot be accessed by children.
Decide what size plants you will be growing. Virginia will allow 4 plants per household, but depending on the techniques you use the final size can yield anywhere from a few grams to a few pounds if grown outdoor.
Get some genetics! Community members of course will have access to only seeds before July 1st with clones to follow as soon as possible. If you would prefer to procure your own seeds, there are many reputable seed backs online. July is a late start to the season for photoperiod plants but autoflowers will be timed perfectly.
If growing indoors, go ahead and order a light and any other equipment so you can pop your seeds on day 1! This may include a grow tent, air filter or fans, potting soil or hydroponic gear and nutrients.
Lastly, if you have any questions, join our community so that we can answer them and get you growing!
